There has been a deterioration in the health condition of DMK president M Karunanidhi, who was hospitalized at   Kauvery Hospital in Chennai on July 28, 2018.

The hospital released medical bulletin in which it said, “There has been a decline in the medical condition of the DMK president and former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. Maintaining his vital organ functions continues to remain a challenge considering his age-related ailments.”

“He is on continuous monitoring and being treated with active medical support. His response to the medical interventions over the next 24 hours will determine the progress,” the bulletin added.

Following the health bulletin of the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, security has been beefed up outside the hospital as big number of supporters have thronged the road outside the hospital.

Before serving five separate terms as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Karunanidhi worked as a screenwriter in the Tamil film industry and has also penned few plays and novels.

Since his hospitalization, President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President Venkiah Naidu and other public figures like Rahul Gandhi, Rajnikanth and Kamal Haasan have visited him in the hospital.
