India celebrated the 150th birthday of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi and Bapu on the 2nd of October 2019. All the leaders and eminent personalities across the world remembered one of the greatest leaders India has ever seen on this day.

However, amidst the growing communal tension in the country one more shameful incident has happened which has the potential of defaming India across the world. According to the sources, some Hindu extremists entered the memorial area early in the morning and carried out their heinous activity by stealing his sacred ashes and by writing traitor in green paint over his pictures.

The person who was assigned the duty of a caretaker of Bapu Bhawan Memorial, Mr. Mangaldeep Tiwari said that he had opened the gates a bit earlier in the morning that day as it was the birthday of ‘Bapu’. After returning to the Bhawan at 17:30 GMT he was shocked to see the remains missing and the poster defaced. A local Congress leader, Gurmeet Singh filed a police complaint in Rewa police station after which they inspected the site and confirmed the news.

The Rewa Police officials said that they were are looking for the thieves now. Mr. Singh has urged the police to monitor the CCTV cameras that were installed inside the Bhavan and has stated that this is an act of utter madness.

Gandhi was a Hindu himself and did everything that a devout and religious person would do. However, the conspiracy of defaming him by degrading his work and questioning his intentions have been carried right from his assassination. On 30th January 1948, Nathuram Godse, a Hindu extremist shot him 3 times in the stomach, groin, and chest causing him to die immediately after 30 minutes. It seems that the extremist mindset that is being cultivated from decades is not satisfied even after killing the person who preached non-violence and virtues of truth all his life.

Gandhiji worked for the unity of Hindus and Muslims and this supposedly did not go well with the right-winged groups and leaders back then. They considered him to be in favor of Muslims and hated him because of the global fame and recognition he was attributed to because of his work for humanity and underprivileged people. This hate continues to thrive in our country till today though they refrain from criticizing him in public due to his public image.

A huge section in our country has already been convinced that Mahatma Gandhi was responsible for partition and they managed to do that by propagating false theories and by spreading misconceptions about the great leader. However, nobody believed that this hate would go that far that some infuriated thieves would steal his ashes and write traitor on his pictures. This is indeed a shameful day not only for Gandhi supporters but for the entire country.
