Uncle Sam and its stooges start war dance again! It seems to be a trend that sets off every few years implicated in ragtag and war torn countries. This time the victim is Syria! Syria has been in the bad books of United States for a long time. Even in the 1990s, Syria under the same ruler, President Assad, had been castigated as a terrorist state. However, even the data keepers will find it difficult to cite an act of terrorism that has been stated sponsored by the Syrian government.
A lot of waters has flown below the Damascus since then. The alleged use of chemical weapon by President Assad on civilians seems to be the alibi of this attack. This accusation has been denied by the Syrian government and the military.
One wonders though why US is not intervening in Yemen, which is also a war torn nation and sufferings are no less here than Syria. The answer is simple: The perpetrator in Yemen is Saudi Arabia, a stalwart ally of United States.
- Syria Showed How low Human can Go
- Continuous Syria Bloodshed is a Disgrace in the Name of humanity
- SYRIA – A PARTICIPANT AND AN OBSERVER
- Children are Real Victims of Conflicts and Wars
Or they could have attacked the military and the government installation of Myanmar where the magnitude of genocide was no less than Syria. The answer: Myanmar does not enjoy the same level of geopolitical importance as Syria. Plus, the victims are Muslims and thus are denied of rights for any major favor from the Western allies!
So US and allies attacked Syria? This country was increasingly becoming a spawn in the proxy war between Russia and United States (and NATO). “Syria became a bazaar for displaying of Russian arms and that was threatening to spoil US arms market. That cannot be allowed an exemption by Uncle Sam!”, Therefore, Syria has been chosen as the scapegoat for US, France, and Britain’s boosting strategy of their arms export.
Moreover, Syria has always been in loggerheads with the main regional player, Saudi Arabia that made it easier for US to stop it from being censured by the countries bordering Syria, as the Sunni Saudi camp is likely to remain silent on this issue. The only aberration is Iran and a very few countries that are allied to it. But who cares what Iran says? This nation is a global pariah anyway!
However, the concern is what will happen to Syria when US and its allies leave the country? In all probability, it will be another Iraq, Afghanistan or Libya. US will certainly put a puppet regime on the throne, but will they be in control of the whole country? The dire future is staring at Syria and even imagining what will happen to its people is an excruciating experience.
It is time that the hapless nations of Middle East rise to show some spine against the bulldozing tactics of the Western allies and their blatant disregard for humanity and peace.
