After two months of Bulandshahr mob violence, the Special Investigation Team filed a charge sheet against five people over the killing of police officer Subodh Kumar Singh during mob violence in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr.
The violence took place in December last year spreading the rumours of cow slaughter in Mahaw village. A village youth named Sumit also sustained bullet injury in the violence and died on way to hospital. The man accused of inciting mob violence in Bulandshahr has been arrested nearly a month after the incident.
The SIT submitted a 103-page charge sheet against the 38 accused in the court. Thirty eight people have been named in the charge sheet filed in connection with the killing of SHO Subodh Kumar. Among 38 accused, five are accused of murdering Subodh Kumar while 33 have been accused of provoking riots.
The team has also charged Bajrang Dal leader Yogesh Raj, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shikhar Agarwal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader UpendraRaghav for inciting violence. However, the local Bajrang Dal leader Yogesh Raj, considered to be the main accused, is not involved in five people who have been accused of killing Subodh Kumar.
Bulandshahar Superintendent of Police (SP) Atul Kumar Srivastava said Prashant Natt, Rahul, David, Johny and Lokendra were guilty of killing inspector Subodh Kumar Singh of Syana police station while he was trying to control the angry mob.

According to the charge-sheet, these five have also been convicted of their crime. In this case many other accused are still on run. According to the police, another accused, Principal Rajkumar of Mahav village, has surrendered last week too.
Who is Yogesh Raj?
In the initial investigation of the Bulandshahr violence, Bajrang Dal local leader Yogesh Raj was the main accused. Yogesh Raj was absconding for 31 days after the violence. In the FIR registered against Yogesh Raj, the police had registered a case against him for provoking violence and inciting people against Subodh Kumar Singh for the murder.
Yogesh became the district convener of the Bajrang Dal in 2016. After that he quit his job and started working for the organization completely.
