As of August 2021, the PM Jan Dhan Yojana had 430.4 million accounts with a total deposit of Rs 1.46 trillion. About 86 percent of these, or 368.6 million accounts, are active.
The average deposit per account has grown 2.7 times since August 2015, seven years after the campaign was begun. Jan Dhan account holders have received about 312.3 million Rupay cards. The government has also established Jan Dhan Darshak, a citizen-centric tool for locating financial contact points such as bank branches, ATMs, bank correspondents, and post offices around the country.
The software employs a geographic information system (GIS) mapping function to locate populated settlements that are more than 5 kilometers away from a banking touch-point. Within a 5-kilometer radius, 99.95% of communities are currently served by a bank branch or bank correspondent.
