in Washington Salman Fazlur Rahman, Private Industry and Investment Adviser to the Prime Minister on various issues of Bangladesh-US relations, met Bob Menendez, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, at the Senate Hart Office Building in Washington DC on Thursday, July 29. During the meeting, they discussed various aspects of Bangladesh-US relations.
The Adviser apprised the Senator of the tremendous socio-economic progress that has been made in Bangladesh in the last 12 years under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He sought the support of the senator to further strengthen Bangladesh-US relations.
Senator Menendez praised Bangladesh’s economic growth and social progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Senator Menendez emphasized the importance of ensuring economic progress as well as labor rights and the protection of workers. The Adviser apprised the Senator of various initiatives taken under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to further enhance the rights and protection of workers in the country. In the wake of the recent fire at a factory in Rupganj, the adviser informed the senator about the formation of a high-powered committee under his leadership.
The meeting was attended by Abdur Rauf Talukder, Senior Secretary of, Finance Department, and M Sahidul Islam, Ambassador of Bangladesh to the United States.
