“Out of 406 people who were brought to India from China in the middle of Coronavirus outbreak, 250 has been released from the facility center yesterday and the rest will be released today, at Chhawla at Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) in Delhi”, said Mr. Vivek Pandey PRO ITBP.
The had been evacuated from Wuhan, the epicenter of the novel Coronavirus outbreak, in two batches and boarded in separate Air India flights. Their samples were collected and were kept under observation for at least 14 days for any visible symptoms of the disease.

On Monday 17 Feb, 406 people were given certificates mentioning that they had tested negative for Coronavirus and were allowed to leave the facility at Chawla. The all-clear certificate was given after two rounds of tests by a team of around 45 doctors from ITBP, BSF, AIIMS, Safdurjung Hospital, NCDC and others.
The group kept under observation in the facility comprised of 186 women, 209 men and 11 children including a large number of students from the Hubei University of Medicine in Shiyan, around 450 km from the epicenter of the epidemic.“
Till Now there are Zero cases of Coronavirus been detected in India and the group of people who are being released from the facility are all healthy”, said Dr. AP Joshi CMO ITBP. “Even after releasing the people they are advised to remain in 14 days home quarantine, use sanitizer, share their information if they visit anyone with this time period and if they notice any symptoms related to coronavirus should immediately contact District Surveillance Officer”, he added.
Speaking to Policy Times Correspondent, Misbah Javed who is a medical student, studying at Hubei University and has been released yesterday is flying to Srinagar tomorrow said, “ I have been released from facility yesterday and after reaching Srinagar Airport, the state government will send an ambulance, with a team of medical professionals who will do my routine check-up and has been asked to take precautions which are for our own benefit and to avoid any outbreak”.
Recalling the conditions of China at I me when they were evacuated from China, she revealed, “ When we were in China the conditions were still not so bad but we approached the concerned officials and Indian authorities responded quickly and evacuated all the Indians without any delay ”. As far as the facilities provided by the facility center from logistics to food, entertainment, games, exercise were provided to the people who were kept under observation. Even after releasing the people from the facility ITBP has offered to provide transportation to the airport, bus terminal or railway station.
