Mohammed Bin Salman, also popularly called MBS, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia in his current visit to the United States has been on a shopping spree for arms and ammunition. Trump and MBS discussed an agreement last year for $200bn worth of Saudi investments with the US, including large purchases of US military equipment. The military purchases of Saudi Arabia are wide ranging starting from ships to missile defense to planes and fighting vehicles.
This multibillion-dollar defense package will be used against the hapless and poor Yemenis and in the process killing hundreds of them. The United States embrace that with open arms as military equipment sale to Saudi Arabia will create 40,000 American jobs.

- Is King Salman of Saudi Ignorant about Muslim’s Woes?
- Trump played cunning in choosing Saudi Arabia as his first overseas destination!
“Saudi Arabia is a very wealthy nation, and they’re going to give the United States some of that wealth, hopefully, in the form of jobs, in the form of the purchase of the finest military equipment anywhere in the world,” Donald Trump said.
“On the political level, the American president is trying to sell the crown prince to the American public, when Saudi Arabia’s image is really bad,” a senior political analyst said.
“We are the oldest ally of America from the Middle East,” MBS said, “with more than 80 years of alliance and big interests – politically, economically, security. The foundation of the relation is really huge and deep.”
The rift between Iran and Saudi Arabia is another reason why Bin Salman is hell bent to buy multibillion-dollar arms. The United States, adds fuel to the fire so that the crisis remains in Yemen and rift becomes wider between Riyadh and Teheran. This will help the arms market of United States to grow and creation of new jobs in US.
Thus, literally, MBS and the ruling family is nothing but a pawn in hands of United States and other Western powers. The Saudis act that benefits US more than themselves. Riyadh will gain nothing in extending enmity with fellow Islamic country of Iran. It is US who will gain! The ragtag rebels of Yemen, in reality, do not pose any threat to Saudi Arabia. Yet, they are buying multi-billion arms which will benefit the United States far more than it will benefit Saudis. It is time Bin Salman and the brigade opens their eyes and set in pragmatism to their defense and foreign policy.
