Let’s remember Ashfaqullah Khan today who was born in a family of landlord in UP on his 122th birthday (born-22 October 1900) as a martyr who sacrificed his life during Indian freedom struggle. He was hanged at the age of 27 years on December 19, 1927 by British colonial government along with Ram Prasad Bismil and Roshan Singh, ( All were hanged in different jails ), for their involvement in famous Kakori conspiracy case (1925). He was hardcore socialist by ideology and immensely favoured economic and socio-cultural equality which was revealed by the message smuggled out from Faizabad jail (where he was imprisoned) just few days before his martyrdom on 19 December 1927.Indian revolutionaries to liberate India from the repressive rule of British government formed Hindustan Republican Association of which Ashfaqullah Khan was co-founder. To raise the funds for revolutionary activities of the Association he along with Ram Prasad Bismil, Thakur Roshan Singh and ohers carried out an operation of robbing a train carrying government cash through Kakori, near Lucknow.
