Atmanirbhar Policy to Uplift Haryana’s Textile Industry

To give an impetus to the textile industry of the state, the Khattar govt approved a new Atmanirbhar Textile Policy 2022-25, which will supersede the previous Haryana Textile Policy 2019. The policy for which a sum of Rs 1500 crores has been sanctioned by the state govt aims to attract investment worth Rs 4,000 crore and generate 20,0000
new jobs.

The policy shall remain in force for a period of three years since its enactment. It aims to promote value-added textile activities with suitable policy interventions to harness the potential of the entire textile value chain in the state. It lies in line with the 5F vision of PM Modi- Farm to Fiber to Factory to Fashion to Foreign’.

According to the govt spokesperson, the policy also provided an impetus for the diversification of Haryana’s textile industry to the ‘B’, ‘C’, and ‘D’ category blocks. The policy also targets to support the industry and adopt state-of-the-art technology in balance with environmental and social standards. The policy further aims to promote innovation, diversification, and value addition along with upliftment of sunrise sectors such as technical textiles in critical areas such as defence, automobiles, construction, etc, said the government in a press statement.

Moreover, the policy aims to foster an ecosystem of self-reliance and innovation by offering robust incentive framework for backward integration, enhanced production of man made fibres, promoting circular economy, attracting investments in weaving, knitting, processing, ready-made garments, apparel making, technical textiles, integrated units, textile parks, textile clusters, etc.
