Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen thanked Japan for providing 3.0 million AstraZeneca vaccines in phases to Bangladesh through the WHO- COVAX mechanism. As part of that, the first consignment of 2,45,200 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from Japan has arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Dhaka on Saturday (24 July) afternoon.
In a message sent to the Foreign Minister of Japan MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Momen acknowledged with deep appreciation the continued assistance of Japan is facing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh, including the direct budgetary support.
Bangladesh Foreign Minister lauded Japan’s Prime Minister Suga’s leadership in hosting the Vaccine Summit on 02 June and committing vaccines and funds to combat the pandemic.
He reaffirmed that Bangladesh considers Japan as a true and trusted friend and also a reliable development partner.
Foreign Minister also wished the Tokyo Olympic Games a grand success.
