Adab, Namaste and Hello,

Every year, the British High Commission New Delhi hosts an Iftar party to celebrate the holy month of Ramzaan. It is an important opportunity for us to mark the contributions of the Muslim community as well as to support interfaith dialogue. In keeping with that spirit, especially when the world faces a shared and unprecedented challenge posed by coronavirus, we felt it was more important than ever that we continue this wonderful event – our annual tradition since 2007.

So, for the very first time we organised e-Iftar party, with more than 100 people from diverse faiths and backgrounds. Addressing the (virtual) gathering Jan Thompson, Acting High Commissioner to India, said: ‘I know that this holy month has been very different to previous years, and not being able to gather with family and friends in worship and to break bread together has been a challenge the world over. However, the message of Ramzaan around kindness and reflection could not be more relevant. I hope that next year we can gather in person to enjoy Iftar together – but for the time being, I would like to wish everyone a Ramzaan Mubarak and an early Eid Mubarak.”

We hope you and you families continue to stay safe. From everyone at the British High Commission, Eid Mubarak!

Regards,

BHC press team
