The Policy Times with association with Adamas University, Kolkata, Mewat Engineering College, Haryana, and Maulana Mukhtar Ahmed Nadvi Technical Campus (MMANTEC), Maharashtra organized career guidance Webinar for 5000 school students on Friday 12th June 2020. The session attended by Smt. Anima Patil Sabale, Orion Spacecraft Simulation Lab Manager, NASA.
The eminent speakers for the session including Dr. P Sekhar, Chairman of Global Smart City Panel, MTGF, Prof. Ujjwal K Chowdhuri, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Adamas University, Dr.Khwaja M. Rafi, Director of Mewat Engineering College, Mr. Sandip K Banerjee, Group President of Education Counseling & Communication, RICE Group, and Mr. Rasheed Mukhtar, Secretary Board of Trustees, JMES.
Mr. Akram Hoque, the Founder Editor of The Policy Times started the session with his introductory remarks and also invited Smt. Anima to guide and Mentor. The main purpose of the Career Guidance Student Webinar was to aware of students who are interested in the field of Aerospace industry and would benefit from this initiative and many similar ones will be taken up based on the response from actual beneficiaries. This session was addressed by Smt. Anima Patil Sabale, NASA a Software and Aerospace Engineer. Anima had done her basic engineering and software training from India and the US for the last 20 years. She gave the full webinar in fluent Hindi as requested by the students.
There was a detailed presentation on various avenues available and the requirements for these. The students were very thrilled by the scintillating talk with live experiences. Anima in her talk gave full details of possible problems and solutions including how she succeeded to climb the steel ladder to her present position. The students were so happy they started interacting with Anima immediately after the show in Social media and got a response.
Prof. Ujjwal K Chowdhury, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Adamas University accepted questions from the students related to media and communication and he answered every question very efficiently. Apart from media, he also emphasized on research on basic sciences which are emerging in the time of Covid-19 and after Covid-19. He also talked about media technology (Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, cinematography, photography, etc.) and how media technology is related to science.
Mr. Sandip K Banerjee, Group President of Education Counseling & Communication, RICE Group suggested “Today what required is from a science background and talking of so much of cyber-crime going on I think the law is another career people should look into”. He suggested the students analyze their self, to know your strength, to know your weakness and the opportunities, and the treats that one has.
Anima Patil Sabale, Orion Spacecraft Simulation Lab Manager, NASA (JACOBS), starts the session by sharing her career path. She also said there’s a scope for students who are not from a science background, as NASA is big on outreach, they have internship opportunities, where students are working on hosting people, working on public outreach, working on media, working on finances also. So, there are students at NASA from Arts, media, Communication, and even Commerce.
Dr.Khwaja M. Rafi, Director of Mewat Engineering College, starts throwing light on what students can do who leave studies after class X. He said that apart from Law, Astronomy, Engineering has a vast field, as things are changing, as the world is changing, where we can work and find new technologies. He has worked on biomass; he was successful in producing energy and was the best-produced methane gas. So, the students who want to pursue Engineering should opt for mathematics, as after that many other fields will remain open for the students.
The show was ended by closing remarks of Anima Patil Sabale, by suggesting the students choose a career of their own will and something they are passionate about and not under pressure. Mr. Akram Hoque in the end made an ending remark all the speakers for participating in the session. He also said that in the future The Policy Times will reach out to the dropout students because they get confused about their life and becomes dropout, so career guidance will be held for them to give them a bright future and will allow them to connect to such eminent speakers.
