Noida: The third edition of Cineaste International Film Festival of India – CIFFI 2021 is all set to entertain cinephiles and screen 438 films selected from 3130 films submitted by filmmakers of 111 countries. The seven-day gala event which is the world’s first Hybrid International Film Festival by educational institutions of two countries is being organized by DME Media School of Delhi Metropolitan Education, Noida, India in association with the School of Communications and Creative Arts, Deakin University, Australia, from December 15-21, 2021.
A day before the formal inauguration of the Cineaste International Film Festival – CIFFI 2021, it was time for a curtain-raiser on Dec 14, 2021.
Learning through hands-on is the objective at Delhi Metropolitan Education. Students are at the forefront of all the activities planned by the Media school of Delhi Metropolitan Education. So as a curtain-raiser, the time was to showcase the efforts put in by the team of students who were not only taking care of screening and shortlisting of films for the jury. They also have been involved in the technical nuances thereby ensuring smooth and nonstop screening of the films.
“It has been an incredible journey so far and would like to come back again for CIFFI next year,” said Kalidas Sreenivas, a student of IInd year, sem three of BA (JMC) and was involved in the screening of films. “Language is not a barrier as far as cinema is concerned. I was so used to seeing films in Hindi and English, it was an eye-opener for me,” said Siddharth Pawar, student of IInd year, BA (JMC) who was also involved in the compilation of films on the basis of language.
The team of social media comprising Nupur Bakshi, Swastika Mishra, Prateek Chaudhary, and Mihir Singh, all students of IInd year, have been taking care of day-to-day social media promotions of CIFFI 2021. Their objective was to bring CIFFI to a wider audience.
While appreciating the efforts put in by the students, the Festival Director and Dean, Media School, Delhi Metropolitan Education, Prof (Dr) Ambrish Saxena said, “ CIFFI 2021 will be a great learning for the students as they will get the first-hand opportunity of organizing such a mega-scale event.”
While encouraging the students, the Festival Associate Director, Prof (Dr) Susmita Bala, Head, Media School, DME said, “The hard work of the students is widely seen in the CIFFI 2021,”
As many as 3130 film entries with a runtime of 748 hours were received from across the world in more than 40 different languages. These were previewed and judged in a two-fold screening process. In the first stage, 438 films with a runtime of 45 hours were selected for screening during the festival. In the second stage, a 4-member jury panel selected the award-winning films.
In addition to the film screening, CIFFI 2021 will have 21 sessions wherein more than 70 experts from the cinema world will deliberate on various aspects of cinema keeping in view the theme of the festival Cinematic Rejuvenation. All these sessions will be live-streamed on social media while the screening of films will be live-streamed on another platform.
CIFFI 2021 is supported by 15 partners including Cover Drive Productions, Vigyan Prasar, CMS Vatavaran, KidzCinema, CultureCinema, We Care and Delhi International Film Festival (DIFF) as festival partners and Global Media Education Council (GMEC), Indian Documentary Producers’ Association (IDPA), Indian Academy of Shorts (IAS) and New Delhi Film Foundation (NDFF) as institutional partners.
