Bangladesh Agriculture Minister Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak MP said the present government is working with utmost importance on poverty alleviation and food security. It is implementing more than 65 programs to bring the poor, the destitute, and the destitute to social security. It is providing food assistance to 50 Lakhs(5000000) families. As a result, there was no food crisis in the country even during the Corona period. At present, there is no cry for food anywhere but the purchasing power of the people has increased.

The minister said the present government is working to reduce poverty by 12% between 2023-24 years.

The Agriculture Minister further said that the proposed budget is very logical and realistic. Considering the Corona situation in this year’s budget, priority has been given to the health sector and agriculture sector along with ensuring the provision of vaccines to the marginalized people. In addition, the government has given priority to the development of small and medium enterprises so that entrepreneurs can be created at the local level and rural people can be employed. Modernization of agriculture and improvement of living standards of farmers is one of the priorities of the government. In this case, the government is giving various subsidies.

The minister also said that there would be no problem in the implementation of the proposed budget if the incidence of corona does not increase.

Chairman of Debate for Democracy Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiran presided over the function. The debates were contested by the World University of Bangladesh as the government team and Prime Asia University as the opposition. In the competition, Prime Asia University became the champion by defeating the World University of Bangladesh.

Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiran, Chairman of Debate for Democracy, gave some recommendations to further enhance the social security of marginalized people in the shadow parliament. Increase in the number of allowances, increase in the number of beneficiaries, increase in the amount of cash assistance announced for the extremely poor, bring more transparency in the selection of beneficiaries, etc.

He also recommended that the allowance of the freedom fighters, the son of the nation’s sun, be taken from the social security sector to a separate sector called “Freedom Fighter Honorary Allowance”. He proposed to form a strong agricultural commission including the introduction of an agricultural pension.
