Several measures are being taken across the country to make the covid vaccine procedure a successful one. Given the fact that all of us want to get vaccinated for the virus, it is evident that this is not going to happen anytime soon. So, a priority list has been prepared by the central government who will receive the vaccine in the first phase. the frontline workers, healthcare specialists, disabled persons and people aged over 50 comes under the list. The Delhi government has listed these groups of people and an estimation of 51 lakh people in Delhi is going to get vaccinated in the first round.
Covid 19 vaccination plan on point for AAP government
The covid 19 vaccination plan has been the talking point in recent times due to the fact that some vaccines are almost close to being available on the market after passing through the trial phases. Delhi government has also planned to distribute the vaccine among the priory group if and when available. A total of 51 lakh people have been registered to receive the vaccine in the first phase which includes the priority group members. The storage capacity of covid vaccine is currently 74 lakh doses which shall increase up to 1 crore 15 lakh doses in the next few days.
Kejriwal looking after the matter earnestly
Looking after the covid vaccination plan, Delhi CM Kejriwal said, “There are around 51 lakh people including healthcare & frontline workers who would get the vaccine in the first phase. The process of identification of all such people is almost complete”. He further added, “We would need 1.02 crore doses of vaccine for the first phase of vaccination since each person will get two doses”. All the vaccine receivers in the last are being registered via SMS and they will get timely notification about the vaccine updates on their phones.
Delhi showing good recovery from covid
With significantly less fresh covid cases, Delhi has improved in its covid situation in the past few days. On Wednesday itself, the capital registered only 871 new coronavirus cases making it to a total of 619618 cases in the national capital. If the vaccination procedure starts early next year then there will no problem as all the arrangements are made by the AAP government to receive, store, and give the vaccine to the priority group.
The Policy Times suggestion
- While the Delhi government is prepared to receive and store the vaccine in the first phase, it must also look out to the fact that there is no criminal indulgence in the process. Like the ones in powerful positions must not get the vaccine first and the ones in actual need must receive the vaccine without any hindrance.
- There must be different centers at each district level to facilitate the distribution of the covid vaccine easily. If this is not maintained properly then vaccinating the 51 lakh people would become very tough for the Delhi government.
