Dartle creates a digital ecosystem for stakeholders in the sports arena to make sports more viable, fair, and accessible to the masses with a global outlook and spread.
Nihal, please introduce yourself and your venture briefly?
I am an innovator, technologist, and sports aspirant. I am the director of Dartle, a Kerala-based sports startup. Our vision is to be the change driver influencing a rapid transformation of the sports ecosystem in India.
In India, sports is not a viable career but hindered by the unnecessary hindrance of the system & community and we lose many a bright sports aspirant to that abysmal circle of a hindrance. We map opportunities for sports aspirants based on our assessment conducted over a few chosen parameters. India does not have a favorable atmosphere for a career in sports. In fact, 62% of youth in India are crazy about sports however only 1 % of them end up choosing sports as a professional career. In India, the ratio is so steep that actually to some level paints the discrepancies of the system from the unfair trial, politics, lack of visibility, and even biased selection.
Through Dartle we are trying to create an eco-system in Indian sports that generates lots of opportunities for different stakeholders of sports and nurturing the dreams of sports aspirants all the while assessing and therefore improving the scope of their capacity and ability.
Our digital model is accessible to any sports aspirants with access to a gadget and they can request an assessment. We delegate a match official to conduct an assessment, the match official then publishes the result on the platform and we convert it to a more comprehensive outcome. This assessment result is visible to the world giving sports aspirants a lot more visibility and any sporting organization can then scout players from our platform. The assessment level is comprehensive making it preferable for sports agencies.
Additionally, our assessment system can be conducted by any licensed official making it an added source of revenue for match officials as well.
Sports are very much physical in nature and your platform is digital. How is it going to overcome many of the changes faced by a physical platform that failed and complement the physical aspects with a comprehensive approach?
Dartel is an incorporated system physical nature of sports enhanced and strengthened by digital connectivity and outreach. Sport aspirants, agency and organizations can fully avail the physical aspects from ground booking, training, assessment to taking part in the sporting events only made more participative, fair accessible by our digital structure.
How is your service different than others already present in the market?
Sports is an unorganized sector that is a major challenge in the basic requirements for the domain. Dartle connects stakeholders from grassroots to global space and widening visibility based on ability, not a specific requirement. Our unique advanced digital technology-based platform helps to trace talents throughout the country.
What is your plan for the journey ahead and your expansion strategy?
Sports are given enhanced importance to that of the curriculum through the new educational reform. So currently we are trying to engage schools into our network so that we not only build a healthy system of fitness by extending sports as well. Next up we can go for B2B to seek potential partners and have a good reach throughout the country. Growth is a journey of collaboration and we are open to partnering with organizations that are trying to give chances to sports enthusiasts in India.
What are the challenges & opportunities you faced in the duration of your year’s journey?
Sports is very physical in nature and the global pandemic at the beginning restricted our growth to a certain degree but later due to the nature of our platform we overcame and discovered the plethora of new opportunities through our online platforms from online training sessions to providing suggestions for improvement through video tracing. The video tracing is a system built with some advanced analytics and algorithm.
People might think India is not a favorable market for sports but the new education reform bringing sports into academia and significant investment from a lot of big players has increased the opportunities and market in sports. This is the right time and scenario for us to grow.
Your message to your audience.
My message is that India right now has the most potent atmosphere to bring a change in the sports community and India’s representation in the International arena so my appeal would for my stakeholders be to take lead to make the change and really bring a revolution in India’s sports domain.
