On January 2 our beloved Dada, Mr. Sourav Ganguly suffered chest pain following which he was admitted to a private hospital where doctors performed angioplasty surgery. He is now out of any critical condition and is being monitored by the doctors. While he has been an impeccable cricketer in his cricketing days and also became team India captain back in the year 2000, rumors are stiff that he might join politics soon and contest from a popular political party. Some say, now, after retirement he has been under political pressure to join a party which might have led to the heart attack he suffered on Saturday.

The former skipper is in stable condition now

After complaining of “chest discomfort, the heaviness of head, vomiting and a spell of dizziness” on Saturday afternoon, the 48-year-old BCCI president and former team India captain Mr. Sourav Ganguly was admitted to one of Kolkata’s best private hospitals, woodlands. He was monitored by the doctors and two blockages were found on his heart which is why doctors had to perform an angioplasty surgery to treat the blockages. He was also tested for SARS CoV-2 virus which came out to be negative. Now, he is doing fine, and later on Monday, the doctors will discuss his further treatment procedure with the family members. Many delegates expressed their concern over his health and PM Narendra Modi also called him personally to enquire about his health conditions. Eminent cardiac surgeon Dr. Devi Shetty is all set to fly in for discussing further treatment procedures of the BCCI president and set up a doctor’s’ panel that will comprise of the best cardiologists of the country.

The doctors’ statements

Dada was exercising in his gym while he suffered chest pain and dizziness after which he was rushed to the hospital. The doctors who treated him gave an official statement which states, “Sourav Ganguly has undergone angioplasty. He is stable now. He will be monitored for 24 hours. He is completely conscious. There are two blockages in his heart for which he will be treated. As of now, he is stable, we will have a meeting on Monday, and then we will decide what needs to be done further, priority is to let him settle down after a heart attack. Later a medical bulletin released by the hospital stated his health parameters which stated, “Sourav Ganguly suffered from chest discomfort while doing treadmill at his home gym. He had a family history of IHD OE Ischemic heart disease. When he came to the hospital at 1 pm, his pulse was 70/min, BP 130/80 mm of Hg and other clinical parameters were within normal limits. His ECG showed hyper acute ST-segment elevation in inferior leads and lateral leads”.

Is political pressure the reason behind dada’s ill health?

Recent reports say that Sourav Ganguly is being pressured by political parties to join politics. Some people are suspecting that this might have caused him a heart ailment. While Ashok Bhattacharya, a veteran CPIM leader said, “Some people wanted to use Ganguly politically. That probably exerted pressure on him. He is not a political element. He should be known as Sourav the sporting icon. We should not create pressure on him (for joining politics). I had told Sourav last week he should not join politics and he did not oppose my views”, BJP state president Mr.Dilip Ghosh opposed the remark and commented “Some people see politics in everything due to their sick mindset. Like millions of his fans, we only wish that Sourav recovers fully”.
