EXPECTING FREEZE ON DIESEL & PETROL FUEL HIKE, AS ELECTION SEASON UNFOLD IN FIVE STATES

Petrol and diesel prices have touched record highs on Saturday, October 2, as global oil prices increases.

The Government is totally callous to the plight of the common man and the road transport sector which is always at the receiving end with even small increases.

It has been experienced that the Government during election season put a freeze on any increase in prices and it should redo that at this time when inflation is all-time high squeezing the household budgets and putting acute pressure on the economic viability of small operators.

In the national capital, petrol prices were hiked by 25 paise from ₹ 101.89 per litre to ₹ 102.14 per litre, while diesel rates were hiked by 30 paise from ₹ 90.17 to ₹ 90.47.

The Govt should put a threshold ceiling on the price of diesel and petrol and sincerely consider bringing them under GST in right earnest, which would have reduced the prices of diesel and petrol by about Rs 20 per litre.

We hope that prudence will prevail in light of imminent elections in five states and freeze diesel and petrol price hikes will be implemented soon.
