Delhi – The Rhyme Republic in collaboration with the Literary Society of Dyal Singh, ‘Poems and Neglected Poets’ event will take place on Saturday, August 18 at Dyal Singh College auditorium.
The first segment will have featured poets who will be enthralling the audience with their renditions of the neglected poets. They will also shed light on the life and works of the particular poets.
We wish to dedicate the event mainly to the works of the poets from our past.
A play titled, ‘Adha Kamra’will be featured in the second segment. This play is about a middle-aged poet, her canvas and the people that come and go in her life.
The event will conclude with a panel discussion,‘New Beginnings Or Impending Doom: Verse In Digital Age’, between the academic, senior poets/writers and the patrons of poetry amongst our contemporaries from the Delhi arts and poetry circuit. Dr. Santosh Bakaya, Medha Singh, Michael Creighton, Aqib Sabir, Aparajita Deb are amongst our distinguished panelists. They have been relentlessly working towards the cause of literature and poetry.
The Rhyme Republic has been running a series on its official page on Facebook to the same effect under the #Neglectedpoets wherein they have highlighted and tried to create awareness of the works of poets who are not too well known and didn’t get their due during their lifetimes.
A crowdfunding campaign has been started to help Asrar Jamayee Sahab, a renowned poet of his times. He has now fallen upon hard times in his old age due to his health and is in desperate need of help and intervention.
