The Union Health Ministry announced India’s recovery rate had reached 48.88%, for the first time the number of ‘recovered’ cases exceeded the number of ‘active’ cases on Wednesday since the outbreak in India.
The health ministry said in a statement. “As many as 5,991 patients were cured of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. This takes the total number of patients recovered to 1, 35,205, while the total number of active cases is now 1, 33,632. For the first time, the total number of recovered patients has exceeded the active cases. The recovery rate now stands at 48.88%.”
But on Wednesday 3,254 new cases were recorded in Maharashtra, taking the state’s overall count to 94,041. The toll rose to 3,438 with 149 new deaths, which is the biggest increase in cases for the state in a day.

Meanwhile, till Wednesday 8 am in India, 9500 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours and the tally rose to 2, 76,583, toll increased to 7,745 after 274 deaths were reported in a day.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), so far 50, 61,332 number of tests have been carried out and of which 1,45,216 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
According to the data by the Johns Hopkins University, India is now the fifth-worst hit nation by coronavirus after The US, Brazil, Russia, and the UK. But India has the 29th highest recovery rate, among the 50 countries with the highest case count as recovery rate in Germany is 91%, Turkey 84%, Israel 83%, Iran 78%, Italy 71%, Spain 62%, and Russia 49%. While in terms of case fatality rate, India is in the 25th position (2.8%) as The fatality rate in Israel is 1.6%, Germany 4.7%, Iran 4.8%, US 5.6%, and Italy 14.4%.
Now till today there are total 2, 86,579 confirmed cases and out of which 1,41,029 have recovered and 8,102 died in India.
