Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, which recently ranked in the top 30 globally in the Times Higher Education Employability Rankings, has certainly recorded its highest ever placements in 2021. There has been a whopping 45% increase in the number of jobs offers to graduates, when compared to last year.
Till 15th December the institute has got 1,250 job offers for its students in the ongoing placement season at the IITs, which is the highest ever, it stated in a press release on Thursday.
“While the number of offers and hence the number of unique selections are at a record high, there has been over 45 percent increase in the number of offers received by the campus during this period over last year. Even pre-placement offers (PPOs) received this year were highest in the last five years,” a statement from the institute mentioned.
Average salaries for students have also increased up by 20% this year when compared to the last year, the institute stated.
Top sectors & recruiters
The top 3 sectors when it comes to employment were 32% in Information and Technology, followed by 30% in core areas and 14% in consulting.
Some of the top recruiters at IIT Delhi are EXL Analytics, Graviton Research Capital LLP, HCL Technologies, Jaguar Land Rover India Limited, and Microsoft. Microsoft was the one to give the highest number of offers on the campus which is almost around 60.
When it comes to international offers, Rakuten Mobile of Japan gave the highest number of international offers. This year almost 40 international job offers were provided to students during the season of placement.
The institute stated that this phase (Phase 1) of the placement season which is only till 15th December will be extended to get over by the end of December and several companies are still lined up. Phase 2 of the placement season shall be conducted between the months of January and May.
“More than 400 organizations across sectors, offering 800 plus job profiles, have registered as of now for hiring students. Many companies will be scheduled in the coming days,” the institute stated.
A placement official at the institute stated that they believe that recruiters are seeking economic recovery and thus a record number of hiring is taking place.
Most IITs have got a record number of job offers this year for their students and even an increase in pay packages compared to the last year.
