India reported a total of 12,514 new covid cases this Monday, taking the total tally of infection of the country to 3.43 crore since the outbreak of pandemic in January last year. After the grappling second wave, the government of India is making sure that no stones are left unturned as far as precautions are concerned.

The Government of India has recently added 6 videos from the Harvard Medical School’s “Covid-19 Clinical Education Series: Clarifying Evidence-Based Information” to its repository of virus and pandemic-related information on the MyGov platform. The educational video series is designed by Harvard Medical School (HMS) to ease the impact of the pandemic which was aggravated by the health inequities and misconceptions about disease prevention and treatment.

Harvard Medical School and a few eminent members of the scientific community have come together to work on a project that would spread timely, accurate, and evidence-based information regarding covid-19 to a worldwide audience.

Launched as a part of the e-governance initiative, the MyGov app has been a potent tool in spreading real-time information and updates to the citizens of the country. With the unfolding of the Covid-19 pandemic, the spread of misinformation amplified on social media platforms posed a great threat to global public health. With the addition of these six videos, the government aims to create awareness about the covid-19 infection ranging from its timely treatment to managing in-house arrangements for infected patients.

The full series of this project is available on the HMS website that addresses a bunch of different topics such as vaccines, prevention of hospital transmission, diagnostic testing, patient risk assessment and stratification, Covid-19 treatment, the complication of Mucormycosis or “black fungus”, pregnancy and so forth.

Hindi translation of the videos is available on the website and the process to translate them into other regional languages such as Punjabi, Gujrati, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, Telegu and Kannada has been initiated. Senior Associate Dean for Post Graduate Medical Education, Harvard Medical School, Dr.Ajay K Singh told Times Of India that they will be updating the videos with new data and information as the pandemic evolves and work on involving data from India in their series.

According to MyGov CEO Abhishek Singh, all resources and pandemic-related issues related to covid-19 will be uploaded according to the MyGov portal’s Ministry of Health and ICMR protocols.
