India encouraged a culture of peace as a portion of its devotion to international order, the Ministry of External Affairs stated.
Culture of peace is the foundation of the international order to build comprehensive and tolerant societies. Under the patronage of the UN, the promotion of a peace culture has enlarged into an international discourse, according to the issued statement by MEA.
The observation came in focus of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly’s Agenda item 16 on Culture of Peace.
The nation will resume spreading the message of humanity, democracy, and pluralism. “We reiterate our call to fight negative forces of intolerance, violence, and discrimination together”, stated by Ashish Sharma, First Secretary in the statement.
Resuming the rich heritage, India has enriched this culture, among others, through understanding, tolerance, respect for all cultures and religions- all of this under the all-embracing umbrella of pluralistic spirit and principles which are democratic. This is preserved in our Constitution, the MEA’s statement stated.
For millennia, India has provided shelter regularly to those oppressed in foreign lands and permitted them to bloom in India and it is not about a culture, but a civilization, the statement added.
