All Indian youngsters aged 12 and older are eligible for next month’s Covid-19 immunizations when Cadila Medicine launches ZyCoV-D, two sources of firsthand knowledge, told Reuters.

ZyCoV-D gained emergency permission this month by the Indian FDA for the World’s first DNA-based vaccination Covid-19. The company will produce 10 million dosages a month from October, commonly known as Zydus Cadila.

The health ministry did not reply immediately to a request for comment. Because they were not authorized to speak to the media, the sources requested anonymity.

The vaccine is the only one approved for children in India, which has administered 825.9 million doses to adults in its nearly 1.4-billion-person population.
