India Young Professional Scheme To Offer 3000 UK Visas To Indians

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s informal interactions with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on the sidelines of the G20 Summit has given a go-ahead to the India Young Professional Scheme that offers 3000 visas for young professionals from India to work in the UK annually.

The scheme is expected to provide 18-30-year-old degree-educated Indian nationals a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take part in professional and cultural exchange. The candidate must have at least 2530 pounds in a bank account to show their support in the UK. The candidates shall need to have had money available at least 28 days in a row within 31 days of applying for a UK visa. Sources reveal that nearly a quarter of all international students in the UK are from India and Indian investment into the UK supports 95,000 jobs across the European country.

“India is the first visa-national country to benefit from such a scheme, highlighting the strength of the UK-India Migration and Mobility Partnership agreed last year”, says UK Prime Minister in an official statement. The reciprocal route is expected to open in early 2023.

PM Modi also tweeted about his informal interaction with his UK counterpart.

This has been the first face-to-face interaction between the two leaders since Rishi Sunak assumed power last month. With this scheme, India has become the first visa-national country to benefit from such a scheme. Besides, UK is also negotiating a trade deal with India worth 24 billion pounds. The deal will be the first of its kind made in European nation that shall allow UK to seize the opportunities presented by India’s growing economy.
