Many developing nations are rooting to launch electric cars in their countries to reduce the pollution created by carbon emission from petrol or diesel cars. Thus, electric cars will not only bring a revolution in the automobile industry but will also help to better the environmental condition. India is also amongst those countries that are rooting for bringing electric cars to people’s rescue and it seems 2021 is the year to do that! Five electric cars that are priced within 15 lakh are expected to launch in the coming year.

Electric cars vs. petrol/diesel cars

Though the advanced automobile industry is looking for alternatives to petrol or diesel four-wheelers to protect the environment from its harmful carbon emissions, there is a debate as to which one is better and more efficient. Well, to be precise, both have their own drawbacks and benefits. While petrol cars are readily available and are quite affordable, electric cars are good on the environmental front. With the rising pollution and fuel prices, people are looking for alternatives and thus, 5 electric cars are going to be launched in India next year.

The cars that are launching next year

Amidst the pandemic, there may be losses in many sectors and industries, but one sector that saw fewer losses is the automobile sector. It is due to the fact that people needed an alternative to travel as the public transport operations are closed due to the lockdown period. Now, in 2021 the automobile industry is getting an upgrade with 5 electric cars being launched that are priced within 15 lakhs. The cars that are going to get launched are

  • Mahindra eXUV300– price expected between 13 lakh and 16 lakh
  • Maruti Suzuki Wagon R EV– price expected to be around 8 lakh
  • Tata Altroz EV– price expected to be between 10 lakh and 12 lakh
  • Mahindra eKUV100-price expected between 9 lakh and 12 lakh
  • Tata HBX Electric– price expected to be around 8 lakh

There is more to come

If all goes well, then maybe more such electric cars will be launched in India soon. There may be some shortcomings to using these electric cars, but if the authorities do proper planning and management then it will be easy to maintain the electric cars. And if we can introduce more electric cars, the environmental conditions will definitely improve.

The Policy Times suggestion

  • It is good of the government to bring electric cars in India and helping nature to heal but if more electric cars run on the road, then apart from the petrol stations there must also be electric car charging stations so that people owning the electric cars do not feel any inconvenience if the car goes chargeless or the charge falls down while driving on road.
  • With coming times the price cap must be mulled a little bit more to make the cars more affordable for the common people looking out for cheaper alternatives to their petrol cars.
