Iran is a nation that has got a raw deal from the world since its Islamic Revolution in 1979. What is most sad is that not only the western allies have been in a clash with the country, but even the fellow Islamic countries in the region accuse Iran of harboring terrorism. It is a very easy ploy of any nation that has been at loggerheads with United States or its allies being branded as a terrorist state. It is kind of discrimination pursued by African Americans who are often shown as perpetrators of crime so that police atrocities can go on without any hassle.
The western powers led by United States have succeeded is negotiating stoppage in Iran’s nuclear program with carrot and stick approach, where the carrot is allowing oil trade and stick is the sanction. The same approach is pursued by the western powers to stop Iran’s missile program.
Iran has been defiant so far, but the doubts are cast as to how long Iran can hold on to its stated position. Iran’s President has declared that the country needs a strong military as a way to ward off foreign aggression.
“If there is any weapon we need, we will develop it for the most part, or procure it if necessary,” Rouhani was quoted as saying.

Truly, Rouhani is justified in his words. Iran’s arch-rival Saudi Arabia is the biggest importer of arms. If Iran does not develop its defense it can become a soft target for Saudi, United States, and Israel. The way United States and its allies are striking one country after another in the region, Iran stands as a vulnerable state.“We will not wait for approval from the world.”
The only reason that United States and Israel could not dare to attack Iran is that of its strong military base. The moment that is gone, we can see another war in the country!
United States is flooding the region with the supply of arms and missiles, a move that can prove to be extremely dangerous in the region. In this context, Rouhani said, “I am calling on them to stop filling up our region with various weapons for the sake of their own interests.”
Rouhani said the only path to establish peace in the region is through diplomatic and peaceful means.
“Our policy towards the region is based on good neighborliness; we want to be a good neighbor to them and want them in turn to be a good neighbor to us.”
“We want friendly ties with neighboring countries and want them to know that our weapons, missiles, and tanks will not be used against any of them,” Rouhani said.
Truly, Iran never attacked any nation unlike United States or Israel. On the other hand, it has the legitimate right to defend itself against such aggressors. Iran should not allow itself to be treated like Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya or Syria – all being victims of United States and its allies, such as Israel.
