Jamia Hamdard will reopen for offline classes and lab courses in a phased manner beginning September 7, 2021, for UG/PG Final Year students pursuing various courses such as B.Sc/B.Tech/B.Pharm/BUMS/BBA/M.Sc/M.Tech/MBA/MCA/ M.Pharma and final year students of Paramedical Sciences and Rehabilitation Sciences, among others, for offline classes in two shifts (forenoon and afternoon).

Only those students who are approved in the first phase will be allowed into the Campus, in order to protect the health and safety of the students and employees. After a review, the university will reopen for the remainder of the UG/PG students in the following phase. The rest of the courses will continue to be delivered entirely online. Students in their last year of UG/PG will also have the option of learning online. All PG/UG final year students’ classes will be held in accordance with all safety procedures.

According to the announcement, all students who are granted permission to attend classes in person must present a genuine Negative RT-PCR Test report and immunization certificate, as well as an undertaking/consent signed by their parents, at the time of entrance into the University.

VC Prof Afshar Alam explained, “Everything will be done in a phased and systematic manner. The first preference for offline classes will be given to the final-year students. It will include students from courses like B.Sc/B.Tech/B.Pharm/BUMS/BBA/M.Sc./M.Tech/MBA/MCA/ M.Pharmaand final year students of Paramedical Sciences and Rehabilitation Sciences. “After the first phase is implemented, we will see how it goes. Once the exercise is successful, we will extend it to other batches and courses.

Registrar Jamia Hamdard Syed Saud Akhtar, said: “We have worked on the modalities after holding a meeting with all deans of the school. Hopefully from next week, we will be able to reopen the campus in a phased manner. Final-year students will get first preference. It will be a big relief to students who had been finding it hard to continue with offline classes.

Outstation students will most likely be contacted in the first week of September, although attendance for offline sessions is entirely optional, he says. He continues, “We already have a Covid-19 safety policy in place, and the majority of our personnel is vaccinated.” It has also been agreed that, in the event of a rise in Covid-19 cases, offline classes would be halted and students will be required to evacuate the dormitories on short notice, in accordance with the guidelines/measures/decisions of the Central Government or the State Governments.
