The hospital was found by Dr. J.S Rajkumar and Dr. Chitrakala Rajkumar, in memory of Dr. Rajarathnam (late), under the mentorship of Dr. Sankaran Formerly known as RIGID Hospital. Dr. J.S Rajkumar- the founder is a renowned laparoscopic surgeon with an experience of more than 30,000 surgeries. In addition to being a leading Laparoscopic and Robotic surgeon in India, he is also a pioneer in stem cell therapy. He successfully carried out stem cell therapy on a paraplegic who is now walking – the first success story in India and the second in the world.
Initiatives like LIMA, Lifeline plus, Meduce and Rewind are amongst few of them the hospital has patented. Lifeline Hospitals have been recognized as the first to successfully perform a Gastric Bypass Surgery, Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery for herniated spinal disc, Lap Burch Colposuspension for Urinary Stress Incontinence, STARR Procedure for Obstructive Defecation Syndrome (ODS). The centre leads as the list of Largest Volume of Bariatric Surgeries in Tamil Nadu, Largest Volume of Fundoplication (anti-reflux) surgeries in South India, Largest Volume of Stapler Haemorrhoidectomy in Tamil Nadu, Largest Volume of Stapler Haemorrhoidectomy in Tamil Nadu.
