Dhaka Bureau Policy Times : Outgoing High Commissioner of Maldives to Bangladesh Ms. Aishath Shaan Shakir paid a farewell call on Hon’ble President Mr. Md. Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban Dhaka thursday(29 October) .
Hon’ble President said that the Maldives is a very good friend of Bangladesh. Bangladesh attaches great importance to its relationship with the Maldives. He said Bangladesh and Maldives share common views on various issues in regional and international forums and support and cooperate with each other.
Noting that Bangladesh and the Maldives are at high risk due to climate change,Bangladesh President called for a more coordinated and strong role in this issue.
Bangladesh President said there are about 100,000 Bangladeshis working in the Maldives. They are making significant contributions to the socio-economic development of both the countries. He emphasized on enhancing mutual cooperation in the development of the tourism sector of the two countries.
President Mr. Md. Abdul Hamid thanked the outgoing High Commissioner for the successful completion of his tenure. High Commissioner of Maldives thanked the Hon’ble President for his overall cooperation during his tenure in Bangladesh.
She thanked the people and the government of Bangladesh on behalf of the government of Maldives for providing food, medicine and healthcare materials from Bangladesh to combat Covid-19.
