As the days are passing, it is becoming clear to the Indian Muslims that at any time they can be arrested for anything without any valid reason. Whether you are selling shoes or taking part in any protest, if you are a Muslim at the wrong time and in the wrong place, then the law can be twisted in anyways to put you in prison. The ever-growing reality for Indian Muslims is becoming harsh.

Difference between the USA and India in terms of “radicalization”

In India, this mass radicalization has seeped deep into the veins of the institutions whereas in the USA there is no such news regarding the media and all. In India, the media, the politicians are echoing the Hindu vigilante slogans and concerns. Mob lynching is being flaunted at many places. The beating is progressing and the Muslims are also forced to chant “Jai Shri Ram”.

List of some Indian Muslims who are imprisoned

Munawar Faruqui, basically known as the standup comic, is in jail for the last 23 days. In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, his show was interrupted by the vigilantes from the Hindu Protection Union. They asserted that he was going to joke about the Hindu gods. Without investigating the crime, the police arrested him. Then there is the poor shoe vendor, Nasir, who was threatened by the goons of Bajrang Dal in Gulaothi, Uttar Pradesh. His so-called crime was that he was selling shoes branded “Thakur”, the word that affected the sentiments of the upper-caste Hindus. Then, an unfortunate teenager from Uttar Pradesh was beaten by a mob and was then put in jail for 42 days. His bail was even been rejected three times.

Persecution or Punishment becoming “mandatory” for anyone criticizing Modi

During Modi’s tenure, there is a slow disintegration of the rule of law in India. And so, the rule of the law is so detrimental that if anyone criticizes Modi or his Bharatiya Janata Party, then he is accountable for getting punished. This rule of the law clearly shows the harassment of Muslims. Few of us acknowledge the fact that Muslims are harassed, but the reality is that they are harassed. Now, the thing is this radicalization of the Hindu society is quite evident at the two levels. Firstly, among the families, and secondly, it reflects the acceptability of Islamophobia.

The PolicyTimes suggestions

  • If the Indian Muslims are harassed day by day like this, then maybe at some point there would be riots at some places. Every human being is allowed to live freely in their religion and Modi along with his party also must abide by this thing.
  • No one is allowed to force anyone to change their religion or do any other thing which harms any Muslim. Strict laws must be taken up against these goons.
