Ministry of Foreign affairs of Vietnam Organised a meeting with Media groups from various countries at Hanoi on 10 February 2020. The media persons of various countries like Thailand, Philippines, India, Denmark, etc.; were invited by the Ministry of Foreign affairs.
The topics that were discussed during the meeting ranged from trade, commerce, the security of Vietnam and other countries. The much-debated health crisis, the outbreak of the Corona Virus at Wuhan in China was also discussed. It was also highlighted by the ministry about the necessary measures that Vietnam is taking to arrest the outbreak in their countries, because of the nature of the disease and the fatalities it has caused in China.
In the meeting, it was also stressed about the importance of ASEAN Countries. ASEAN countries are located at the center of a vast area connecting the Indian and Pacific Oceans, has both opportunities and challenges.
With a population of more than 642 million and an area of more than 1.7 million square kilometers, ASEAN represents a market with huge potential, a vibrant economy and a bright spot in the global economy.
During the meeting, it was stressed that ASEAN Countries need to maintain solidarity and unity, bolster economic resilience, speed up its response to emerging challenges, foster innovation, and reinvent itself to move forward. It was also stressed by the officials of the ministry to develop a strategic policy for long term relationships between India and Vietnam.
Also, it was shared by the officials the purpose of the meet to inform the countries invited for Hanoi Declaration 2020 about the development and economic progress, culture and social values Vietnam has achieved over the years. The meeting with the media groups of different countries would encourage their respective countries to strengthen trade and investment with Vietnam.
