The metro city that has been in buzz for the uncontrolled rise in Covid cases became the first district in India to administer more than 1 crore vaccine jabs against Covid-19, according to the data published on the ‘CoWin’ portal. Mumbai till September 3, had successfully administered a total of 1,00,60,411 vaccine doses, covering 78 percent of the population with at least one shot of the jab.
As per data refurbished at the ‘CoWin’ portal, Mumbai has administered 72.74 lakh people with the first dose and 27.86 lakh with the second dose. As the much anticipated third wave of Covid-19 is expected to make its footfall in October, the Center has urged the States and Union Territories to boost the range of vaccines to avert any upcoming crisis.
The city however has reported 400 plus fresh cases of coronavirus with four deaths and 382 recoveries. Meanwhile, 12 lakh beneficiaries from the state were administered the Covid-19 vaccine doses, setting a new record in singly-day vaccination in the state.
