Sahitya Akademi has announced its annual Sahitya Akademi Awards in 20 languages that include novels in Assamese and English by Anuradha Sharma Pujari and Namita Gokhale on Thursday.
Seven books of poetry, two novels, five short stories, two plays, one biography, one critique, and one Epic Poetry won the Sahitya Akademi Awards 2021. The awards in Gujrati, District, Manipuri, and Urdu will be declared later.

Assamese writers Anuradha Sarma Pujari and Namita Gokhale won the award in the novels category. Beneficiaries in the Poetry category include MwdaiGahai in Bodo, Sanjiv Verenkar in Konkani, Hrushikesh Mallick in Odia, and Vindeshwari Prasad in Telegu.
A biography in Kannada by D.S. Nagabhushana, an autobiography in Malayalam by George Onakkoor, a criticism work by WaliMohd. In Kashmiri, AseerKashtawari and a book of epic poetry in Nepali by Chhabilal Upadhyaya were awarded too. Two plays by BratyaBasu and Daya Prakash Sinha in Bengali and Hindi respectively were selected for the award as well.
The awards, which were commended by key members of the jury in 20 Indian languages, were approved by the Executive Board of the Sahitya Academy to meet under the chairmanship of Dr. Chandrashekhar Kambar who is the President of the Sahitya Academy.
