February 27, 2021, New Delhi: South Asia Education Council (SAEC) and The Policy Times in collaboration with the University of Petroleum And Energy Studies, Dehradun organized a capacity building webinar on “Career In Design Thinking, Law and Business Administration” as part of cross-border academic exchange and integration within South Asia on February 24, 2021, from 6.15 pm -8.15 pm (IST).

Mr. N. Senthil Kumar, Senior Director of Business Development & International Sales, UPES-Dehradun stated the all-encompassing significance of law in almost all the fields. The reformation in the legal field in India started in 1961 and the horizon of legal necessity is changing and broadening every day in the 21st century and digitization has also introduced a new set of legal necessity due to high risk in cybersecurity and the need for legal regulation in high potential and sought after social media platforms with a proper understanding of modern aspects. The prospects of a legal career have long since stepped out from the sole presence of courtroom arbitration, mediation, litigation and spread its root to corporate law to consultancy to environment law to maritime law are just a few. There are a wide array of options to be explored in the legal field at present time and to quote Abraham Lincoln for legal aspirants choosing a legal career builds half the future lawyer and Mr. Kumar added a highly capable institution in the mix for a high potential legal career.

Rakshita Sachdev, Associate Consultant-Design Thinking, KPMG India from her professional experience in design thinking implored that to attain holistic development in design thinking deeper understanding of the ideology of the matter and self-motivated exploring is more important though design schools can give ideological perspective and industry exposure to open minds self-designed exploration is a key element to a potential career in design thinking as the core aspect of the subject is a mix of an open mind, creativity, critical thinking and the passion to bring out of the box ideas.

Ms. Roshee Lamichhane, Assistant Professor, Kathmandu University from her experience as an educator of Business Administration and management evaluated the modern day’s implication of the concept in both personal and almost every profession. It is a holistic science that helps people manage their own decision-making with its core principles.

Dr. Vikash Chadda, International Partnership, UPES explained some of the core principles of the fields in discussion and how a practically structured course module along with applicable pedagogy is necessary for holistic development of students in their career choice and UPES, Dehradun with its tailored made program and pedagogy enables their students to utilize full potential.
