Sweden has extended its support to UNDP’s Human Rights Programme in Bangladesh! Wednesday (Jun 2) Ambassador of Sweden in Bangladesh Alex Berg von Linde and Resident Representative of UNDP Sudipto Mukerjee signed the agreement that brings the total Swedish contribution to 42.7 million Swedish kronor during 2015 – 2021.

Sweden extended its support to UNDP’s Human Rights Programme in Bangladesh The programme, which is co-funded by Sweden and Switzerland, aims to build the capacity of key human rights actors to promote human rights, with a particular focus on the most vulnerable and marginalised communities in Bangladesh. The programme supports state-based institutions, like the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), and law enforcement agencies, in particular the Bangladesh Police, to strengthen their capacity to better deliver on their mandate to defend and protect human rights. The programme also interacts with other interventions of UNDP that focus on issues like strengthening of the judicial reform, justice sector facility and access to justice.
