It is all our concern that we are in an awful state due to this corona virus spreading all around the globe. Going out is not a good idea in this state leaving us locked down in our houses. Everything is at stake starting from the economy of our country to the education, literally nothing is out from the clutches of the negative impact due to this virus.
Now, as the Principal of The Green View English Academy, trying to contribute in the education field of this country, I have implemented some creative ideas in my school so that our students do not lose themselves in this lock down state.
It is utmost important to keep the students engaged in some kinds of activities so that they would not sit idle. Moreover, studying like school while being at home is somewhat difficult, so it becomes necessary to make students feel like school. For this we have introduced live online voice and video classes so that students never feel that they are alone. They can have live discussions with their teachers and friends about a topic. We have introduced the presentation of cultural activities through video and we produced it in front of the world through YouTube. It was amazing that the students are participating with their full dedication and enthusiasm during the time of School foundation day and Rabindra Jayanti.
For more activities I have also planned to host the competitions like Miniature Gardening and FASHIONISTA through online, which will help the students to be creative in the field of designing and who knows some of our students must have a hidden talent of designing or even at photography.
Talking of hidden talents, most of the students are still unaware of their talents at this stage and through these activities we are repeatedly trying to make the students find out their hidden powers which might one day become their passion.
- AMP organizes its historic National Convention in Bengaluru celebrating 12 years of Engagement, Education, Employment and Empowerment
- Join the movement that nation stands with while you sit at your home. “It’s isolation not loneliness”
But most of all I think it is an opportunity to the students to think of themselves. Generally, they do not get enough time to think of themselves. They are busy with their class works, homework, tuition, dance coaching, art, swimming, etc, etc. Once one of my students asked me, “Ma’am, I go to cricket coaching camp, swimming, but everywhere I am to follow strict routine. I want to play as per my own.” These words always chase me. Most of the children will think this but will not dare to say this due to fear. Fear of what? Fear of being scolded, being reprimanded by their parent. But if we think a little bit further and go a time back when we were students, we will find that we were not burdened like what today’s children are burdened. I have told my students to enjoy their time as per theirs’ without being busy on Facebook or WhatsApp.
This will be an experiment, showing the children that we can stay totally fine and safe even in this grievance period. This lock down will not be forever, and the students must continue their schooling, but it is in our hands to provide them a safe and healthy environment after lockdown, because nobody wants a society where people have to maintain social distancing from the person with whom they are making their memories. We are human beings driven by emotions and we must respect that. School life is the life where students make most of their memories. So, what we can do to raise our voice so that our world does not fall in this type of situation further, because tis experience is enough for us to understand what a pandemic like this can do to the world. We must ensure that we people must not be devoid of symphony and rhythm within our hearts. Educators can only trigger this.
Cannot we start right now?
