New Delhi, April 18, 2019: H.E. (Mr.) Pham Sanh Chau, the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to India is planning to interact with Indian CEOs on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the New Delhi Embassy. The interaction is being organised by The Policy Times in partnership with The Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, New Delhi.
The Interaction is the result of the Ambassador’s willingness to invite and interaction with a select group of representatives from Indian industry. Textiles, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, wind & solar energy, infrastructure, and aviation are the six sectors identified to focus during the interaction.
The main objective of the Interaction is to present ‘Rising and Shining Viet Nam’ and opportunities that India Inc can leverage. With strong economic growth, ongoing reform and a large population (93 million – half of which are under the age of thirty), Viet Nam has emerged as one of the world’s most dynamic investment destinations. Exceptionally friendly relations between India and Viet Nam (which is 2,500 years old with the rise & spread of Buddhism) has been reflected by some high level official visits. However, 2017 has been a historic year as both countries commemorated the 45th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations and 10 years of Strategic Partnership. They celebrated 2017 as the Year of Friendship. While both countries have set bilateral trade target of $15 billion by 2020, achieving over $11 billion trade in 2018 itself means it has more potential to grow.
Moreover, while India and Viet Nam has a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), Viet Nam is also part of many mega-regional, regional trade blocs such as Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), ASEAN, East Asia Summit, Mekong Ganga Cooperation, Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM) besides UN and WTO. Investing in Viet Nam can help India Inc. to benefit from these trade agreements.
