Twitter is one of the companies which is the good boy of social media when it comes to scandals. It has always stayed out of scandals and minds its own business. Twitter is used by almost all the famous personalities and it is widely popular for its format. It has been one of the biggest influencers when it comes to idea and its execution. The company has a lot of users and the number goes to hundreds of millions.
There was a time, last year when Twitter was having a stagnation problem. The user growth rate was stagnant, the revenues were stagnant and everything was looking gloomy from the outside and not so optimistic from the inside. There is a problem with being too perfect and Twitter is just in a perfect space.
There is little room from improvement as the company has the perfect balance of privacy and social activities on the app and on the website as well. That being said, to its surprise, the company spotted user growth, as well as revenue growth and the investors along with the hierarchy, were relieved. This is because stagnation is never good for anything in the world. A company needs to grow or else it will start to crumble.
A company constantly needs to evolve and develop and Twitter was losing the opportunities because it was stagnating. However, it has seen a rise in quarterly Monthly Active Users. The count rose by around 9 million to 330 million users. While the average remains to be around 318.8 million users every month.
That being said, Twitter is now focusing on the ‘monetizable’ users, a term which Twitter coined for themselves. This is where it will only provide the number of users based on their advertising profile and the revenue it generates. Apart from this, the company is also focusing on the behavior of its users. It is trying to get rid of abusive as well as tweets that contain personal information.
Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter confirmed in a statement that the company is removing 2.5X more tweets than they ever removed. He said, “We are now removing 2.5x more Tweets that share personal information and 38% of abusive Tweets that are taken down every week are being proactively detected by machine learning models.”
That being said, Twitter is seeing growth at an unusual time but the social media company is widely popular for taking the fans closer to the stars or sports teams. It will be interesting to see how the company moves forward after this small success.
