
Just two week ahead of Assembly polls in Chhattisgarh, two police personnel and a Doordarshan cameraman were killed in a Naxal attack in Dantewada district today, police said.
Two other police personnel were also injured in the incident, which took place in Nilawaya village under the Aranpur police station.
Deputy Inspector General (Anti-Naxal operations) Sundarraj P told PTI, “Those killed were identified as Sub Inspector Rudra Pratap, Assistant Constable Mangala and DD News cameraman Achyutanand from Delhi”.

Sundaraj, talking about the incident, added that it has exposed the “true face of the Naxals.”It is being said that the ambush was planned to attack the CRPF personnel, however, the media crew which was present at the spot, also came under attack”.
According to reports, the Doordarshan crew had gone to Dantewada District to shoot a documentary film in Naxal-influenced Nilawaya village in Aranpur area where assembly elections are due on 12 and 20 November.
Union Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore expressed his condolence over the incident and said that the government will take care of the family of deceased journalist.
