This session was mainly to emphasize national security as there is no issue important than security.
The session was chaired by Dr. P. Sekhar, Chairman of Global Smart City Panel MTGF, and moderated by Mr. Akram Hoque, Founder Editor of The Policy Times, with eminent speakers including K P. Raghuvansi, IPS, Retd DGP, and ex ATS GOM, Capt. Pawanjit Ahluwalia, Chairman, Premier Shield Group, Pramod Rao, MD Zicom Security Group.
The show was moderated by Mr. Akram Hoque, The Founder- Editor of The Policy Times, he started the session by introducing the speakers and threw a light on the topic by saying that the session is mainly to discuss the role of security in the post- Covid and the strategies to take care of the internal securities as well as external security.
Dr. P. Sekhar, Chairman of Global Smart City Panel MTGF, chaired the session; he thanked all guest speakers and made his introductory speech. He said, “As Covid- 19 has made our life, our economy, and so many things into a diverse situation, so in such a situation the security has to reinvent itself, it has to see itself in a different front here”.
K P. Raghuvansi, IPS, Retd DGP had the experience to face life situations like the July Blast of 2006, the Terrorist Attack in Mumbai in 2008. He said, “When the lockdown was enforced all the pressure came on the police. As we all know the work of the police is to maintain the general law and order, regulation of people and traffic, prevention, detection, investigation and then charge sheeting of the crime, but in this case, the things were different because this time the weapons were not the bullets it is a virus and the work of the police was to keep the people’s in their homes and maintain the safety precautionary measures. But it was a tough job because many people violated the law of lockdown, they were spitting. But as police are not trained for these kinds of things the result today is more than 3000 policemen in various cities are infected by this virus.
Capt. Pawanjit Ahluwalia, Chairman, Premier Shield Group made his remarks by sharing that people living in rural areas have different challenges, the senior citizens face different challenges, the middle-aged face different challenges, and even the millennials face different challenges. He also mentioned that people are now seeing in the new way of life like enhanced use of E-commerce for buying and selling, enhanced use of law enforcement, online transactions, and work from home has increased during this Covid time. But all these facilities have brought problems for the elderly persons as they have to rely on someone for all the online things happening.
“The face of the security industry is going to change due to the Covid- 19, we immediately realized that when we go banks or shopping malls the security guards use a gun, the Chinese guy toy and he was measuring the temperature of people. We need to get into a zone of security which is known as the Life Protection Business, a new category that is opening up”, stated Mr. Pramod Rao, MD Zicom Security Group.
He also added, “They made a lot of products which helped fight Covid- 19.” They had made a couple of devices for the commercial and non-commercial buildings and placed them at the entrance which automatically checks the temperature of a person as soon as he or she enters. While Covid is adversity we have to look for an opportunity that we can the industry do as the new norms are going to come into existence and we have to stay with this. The three main technologies which are going to thrive are Artificial Intelligence (AI), Video Analytics (VA), and IoT.
Mr. Akram Hoque conveyed a vote of thanks to all the eminent speakers and the show was ended with a question-answer session.
