The United States chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Milley in a media brief predicted the emergence of a “Civil War” like situation in Afghanistan as the militant Taliban took over control of the country. The top official told US media that Afghanistan will likely erupt into a civil war and this could lead to an increase of terrorist groups in the country.
Talking to an independent news channel, the Joint Chiefs of Staff asserted that as per his experience Afghanistan will likely develop a civil war and this will worsen the country’s ongoing situation. Milley also stated concerns on whether the Taliban- who is yet to declare its government will be able to effectively govern the country keeping a balance of democratic rights.
During the interaction, General Milley said that as Afghanistan will likely erupt into a civil war in near future, terrorist groups such as al-Qaida can also see a comeback on Afghan soil and this is worrisome.
On August 31, the United States ended the 20-year old long war against the Taliban as the superpower country shared the last picture of its soldiers boarding into the plane concluding the withdrawal mission of its army troops.
