A webinar on exploring the Business opportunities in Agri & Food Processing Products was conducted by Trade Office, Embassy of Vietnam in India in association with the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency of India (Invest India) and Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) on 22nd February 2023.
The basic objective is to strengthen the bilateral trade and investment between the two countries.

The webinar started with the opening remarks by H.E. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Ambassador of Vietnam to India. During his speech, the Ambassador emphasized that the food processing sector holds a major share in the manufacturing sectors GDP of India. India is capable of marketing Agri & food sector of Vietnam. Similarly India exports indigenous spices, marine foods, fresh fruits and vegetables to Vietnam thereby both the countries are getting benefitted mutually.
Secondly Dr. Le Thanh Hoa, Deputy Director of the Agro Processing and Market Development Authority, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam interacted about the huge potential of the farm produce exports to India.
Speaking at the conference, Mr.Prashant Seth, Jt. Dy. Director General, The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) briefed that India Holds the position of second largest agricultural land in the world and generating employment to more than half of the country’s population. He further added that India is the largest producer of mango & banana and about 15% of the countries Gross Value occupied by Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries sector. He presented a brief outline of the sector and business opportunities available for Vietnam and India in this sector. Mr.Seth explained that a delegation from India comprising of 29 exporters is visiting Vietnam from 28th February to 3rd March 2023. FIEO organize B2B meetings at Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City respectively during the delegation visit. He urged the business communities from Vietnam to make maximum use of the opportunity being provided by FIEO and attend the B2B meetings for entering into business contracts between the two sides. Followed by Mr.Seth, Mr.Vaibhav Wadhawan, Director, FIEO given an elaborative presentation.
After that Invest India given a brief presentation on the Agri & Food Processing sector of India. The presentation was given by Ms. Shwetima Negi & Ms Kashika Malhotra jointly. They have elaborated that the food processing industry forms a major part of India’s economy owing to the variety of food products that the country harvests and further processes for consumption. Invest India further added that the rising incomes and a growing demand for healthy and packaged food ensure that this industry is likely to sustain all seasons and never fear a recession. They have explained that the industry also receives growing support from the government. India’s food processing sector in recent years have been known for its high-growth and high-profits, thus, increasing its contribution to the world food trade every year. They emphasized that The Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India is taking all necessary steps to boost investments in the sector.
In the concluding remarks, Mr.Bui Trung Thuong, Commercial Counselor, Embassy of Vietnam in India urged that the business community from both the countries come forward to interact one to one in exploring possibilities of doing business and exploring new horizons in the Agricultural and food processing sector because both India and Vietnam have great potential in these sectors.
He said that these dialogues will definitely enhance the investment relationship between Vietnam and India which has already reached many heights in the recent years especially in the Import and export of agricultural products. The Embassy’s focus is to further elaborate the relationship in this sector as well as in other sectors also.
