The chair of the session Dr. P. Sekhar stated, “Blue Economy is a neglected but very fascinating field and it is going to have a huge impact on India’s Economy. Blue Economy itself has got various sets of definition; it started with the green economy and the blue economy which had a different purview.”

India is essentially a maritime nation with natural outflow toward the seas and oceans, as we in India need to look outwards towards the seas which surround us and it also brings home the fact that we are heavily dependent on the oceans and the seas for our external trade for our resources for our economic well- being and prosperity and for our maritime security. As a maritime nation, India sits astride busy sea lines of communication which transit across the Indian Ocean over 120, 000 transit area carrying 66% of the world’s oil, 50% of the world’s container traffic and 33% of the world’s cargo traffic.
He also added, “In the past few years with the help of our Honourable PM, we have had series of initiatives for sustainable development in the maritime domain along with the quests to harness the blue economy. Blue Economy has emerged as a new paradigm and I would like to define the harnessing of the blue economy as the development of all our maritime interests by optimal utilization resources with minimum impact on the environment to ensure sustainable development of the oceans”.
“I view Blue Economy in a position to ensure the global view, what is happening in blue economy as well as suggesting some ways of implementing blue economy.” Stated Prof. V. N. Attri. After COVID 53 countries are facing a crisis of national debt. To sustain the Blue Economy many minstrel conferences and meetings are being held, the last meeting was held in Bangladesh in 2019, which was a great success and Bangladesh is one of the countries in IORA who have systematically and to a great extent implementing the blue economy and in the next five to seven years Bangladesh will be getting a status of high middle-income countries through implementing the blue economy. For sustaining the blue economy we need to create a blue economy among our youth, we need to be optimistic, innovative, and adhere to sustainability.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. P Sekhar asked for suggestions and what should be done for saving the blue economy. He said, “Nature gave us land and water but nature has given us much more amount of water than land for reasons, and whatever one is doing should keep in mind these two things and should do managing these two innovations of nature. Let Blue Economy Wash Covid out and bring prosperity to our nation”.
Mr. Hoque concluded the session and thanked the entire panel for being a part of the session. Mr. Hoque said, “I only had one vision that we should establish institution’s or organizations that becomes pillar or instrumental platforms to boost India’s growth, development and sustainability, and so we thought blue economy will be one among the few agendas or initiatives that we will be very happy to work under your guidance, to make some visible change on the ground”.
