The idea of EPR is to facilitate the participation of plastic manufacturers and user industry in devising better plastic waste management strategies and creating partnerships with urban local bodies. The use of a wide range of plastic products has become widespread. With a growing population, solid waste management (SWM) is becoming a significant environmental challenge and an emerging problem, especially in the eco-sensitive Indian Himalayan region. Improper disposal methods, such as open dumping and open waste incineration, post humongous challenges for managing municipal waste in an environment-friendly manner.

The objectives of the conference are

  • To spread awareness about the initiatives of the government for better collection and management of plastic waste.
  • Deliberate on potential means for increasing plastic waste recycling/reuse.
  • Discuss the opportunities for reducing and eliminating the adverse effects of waste on human health and the environment.
  • Ensuring environmental protection through an effective waste management system.
  • Technology is taking over everything. One of the biggest innovations in the waste management industry is the ability to turn waste into real energy. Discuss the potential of these options in this region..
