WICCI Rural Tourism Council Launches A/V Web Magazine India Kaleidoscope

The Rural Tourism Council of WICCI – Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry marks Shakti Bandhan Day, celebrated on October 5 every year to commemorate the spirit of sisterhood, by launching its bimonthly audio-visual web magazine ‘India Kaleidoscope’.

The magazine, conceptualized by Somali Panda, the leader of the cultural team of the WICCI Rural Tourism Council, will be produced in collaboration with Indus Band Foundation. Ms. Panda, a well-known musician and the founder of Indus, said the launch webinar is in solidarity with the upcoming COP 26 UN Climate Change Conference to be held between October 31 to November 12 2021 in Glasgow, UK.

The magazine will be inaugurated in an online event by Debanjan Chakrabarti, Director of British Council East and Northeast India. He will be accompanied by guest speakers Patralekha Nath, an author and academic, and Souvik Bhattacharya, independent researcher and blogger. The Rural Tourism Council will be represented by Lakshmi Sharath and Dharna Shukla, apart from Somali Panda.

Sahana Ahmed, the National President of WICCI Rural Tourism Council, said that India Kaleidoscope is an initiative to create awareness about Rural Tourism by showcasing the beauty of rural India and the richness of its culture, arts, and heritage, both natural and man-made.

Ms. Panda added, “The plurality of our culture and belief and heritage that in turn has enriched us as a nation and humans on this good old earth will be celebrated through this program. The ancient knowledge, or rather wisdom, that the people of our rural areas naturally possess is so natural that they themselves are at times hardly conscious about, and therein lies the beauty of it.”

The first edition of the magazine is being designed to uphold the cause of conserving agriculture and, thereby, nature. #ClimateChange will be the overall theme, with the aim to create awareness and encourage a conversation around the topic.

“This magazine will take the responsibility to conserve the glory, the beauty, the wisdom of rural India and also to celebrate and share this treasure with the world,” concluded Ms. Panda.
